Northern Star Resources says outstanding results from its Western Australian operation paves the way for a “substantial” increase in gold resources and mine lives (reports MiningNews).
The company reported strong results from its Kalgoorlie operations, with the highlight courtesy of Kanowna Belle, which returned 4.4m at 671 grams per tonne gold, including 0.3m at 12,860gpt, 3.6m at 115.3gpt, 12.4m at 4.9gpt and 4.5m at 14.5gpt (all true widths).
Recent drilling has also supported Northern Star's view that the Velvet lode at Kanowna Belle links back to the Lowes deposit.
That view is supported by the discovery of multiple mineralised structures down plunge from Velvet, with results including 31.3m at 21.7gpt, 15.8m at 9.5gpt, 7.4m at 13.7 gpt, 5.5m at 17.8gpt, 6.5m at 12.4gpt and 9.7m at 6.6gpt.
The company has also identified several new structures in the hanging wall at Kanowna with results of 6.4m at 14.1gpt, 15.8m at 9.5gpt, 5.5m at 17.8gpt and 2.4m at 10.3gpt.
At Kundana, drilling at Millennium returned 1.8m at 80.4gpt gold, 1.6m at 73.2gpt gold and 2.2m at 29.4gpt gold, extending the known mineralisation to the north.
Recent surface diamond drilling has extended the known Xmas-Moonbeam mineralisation and improved the understanding of the geological settings.
The company has kicked off decline development from Millennium/Pope John to Xmas-Moonbeam, will provide a platform to infill drill the inferred resource.
