The company said on Monday the Department of Mines, Industry, Regulation and Safety has approved the mining proposal and mine closure Plan for the 4Mtpa operation while the WA Department of Water and Environmental Regulation has approved the works approval to enable project construction and operations.

The permits follow a final investment decision by the company in June after its secured a native title agreement with the local Tjiwarl Aboriginal Corporation.

Work on the accommodation village has already begun and two-thirds of construction tenders for the project have been issued including the development of a 95-megawatt hybrid power station in partnership with Zenith Energy.

The initial 2.5 million tonnes per annum project will deliver 500,000 tonnes per annum of spodumene concentrate to global markets, with a planned expansion to 4Mtpa (700ktpa spodumene concentrate) within six years.

Completion and commissioning is targeted by the end of the second quarter of 2024.
