The Alex Dorsch-led explorer on Thursday said visual results received from initial diamond drilling at the greenfield Dampier target 10km north of the Gonneville had shown wide zones of disseminated sulphides.

Chalice said portable XRF spot measurements had confirmed the presence of nickel and copper mineralisation within the intervals, but assays were pending to confirm grades.

The company said the results highlighted the prospectivity of an untested part of the 30km-long Julimar intrusive complex, with several nearby targets located along strike prioritised for immediate drilling.

It said 13 of 70 planned sites have been drilled at the Hartog-Dampier targets to date, with several high-priority targets still yet to be tested.

Four diamond drill rigs are operating at the site.

Shares in Chalice soared to an all-time high of $10.48 in November last year after the company unveiled a monster 330 million-tonne maiden resource for its Gonneville polymetallic deposit in a semi-rural area just 70km north of Perth.

Billed as the biggest discovery of platinum-group elements in Australian history and the largest nickel find in 20 years, Chalice made its Gonneville discovery in the first hole it drilled at its Julimar project in early 2020.
