James Bay Minerals (ASX:JBY) has one of the largest tenement portfolios in the prolific James Bay minerals district, across the La Grande lithium trend that runs into the same corridor as Patriot Battery Metals’ (ASX:PMT) 109.2Mt Corvette and Winsome Resources’ (ASX:WR1) Cancet lithium projects.

JBY’s summer 2024 field program will focus on high-priority pegmatite targets generated across the Joule, Aero, Aqua properties and the recently acquired La Grande East – all part of the greater La Grande project.

Initial reviews of the eastern portion of the La Grande East property have identified multiple large white dyke-like features from satellite imagery, with some more than 500m-long.

Since acquiring the property in March an immense 340 targets have been identified from desktop studies across the 70km2 claim package, focusing on magnetic lows which trend from east to west across the property.

Satellite imagery was then overlaid across the prospective zones, focused on identifying white outcrops, which can correlate with pegmatite outcrops.

Joule covers an area of 163km2 along the Robert-Bourassa reservoir. Joule has a ~24km deformation zone running from east to west through the property with deformation widths of up to 1.5km in the northeastern part of the property.

Fieldwork will be undertaken across key LCT pegmatite targets, along with significant rare earths and uranium targets generated from LiDAR, high-resolution photography and aeromagnetic and spectromagnetic surveys.

Magnetic and spectrometric survey data has identified several zones with high equivalent-uranium readings of up to 29 parts per million (ppm).

Covering 172 continuous claims across 88km2, faults traverse the Aqua property from east to west which host the La Grande greenstones.

Utilising data generated from the company’s 2023 field program and subsequent desktop studies, planned exploration includes field mapping and rock chip and channel sampling for analysis.

The team’s initial focus will be on the north-western portion of the property which sits directly east of Fin Resources’ (ASX:FIN) own Cancet West project.

JBY exec director Andrew Dornan says that as the company embarks on the next exciting phase the team has been meticulously analysing crucial data and has crafted an extensive list of high-priority targets.

“This strategic approach ensures that fieldwork can be executed with maximum efficiency.”
