La Grande project packages are proximal to Winsome Resources’ (ASX:WA1) Cancet and Patriot Battery Metals’ (ASX:PMT) Corvette lithium projects.
The Joule property itself spans 163km2 hectares along the Robert-Bourassa reservoir which features a prominent ~24km deformation zone running east to west, with deformation widths up to 1.5km in the northeastern part of the property.
The past six months have been instrumental for James Bay Minerals’ (ASX:JBY) in compiling a comprehensive list of exploration targets derived from initial surveys.
As the explorer has expected, the target list features numerous high-priority LCT pegmatite targets, using cutting-edge techniques such as LiDAR, high-resolution photography, and aeromagnetic and spectromagnetic tools to survey the tenements.
JBY’s research also revealed rare earths (REE) potential, as historical radiometric surveys have found high equivalent-thorium (eTh) levels up to 22 parts per million (ppm), indicating the possibly significant REE mineralisation.
A helicopter was employed to access the key areas exhibiting eTh levels, and an exploration team will be dropped to the ground and equipped with scintillator tech to explore the REE targets identified in the surveys.
Preliminary findings from the radiometric surveys have been encouraging, showcasing a spread of elevated eTh levels across the property.
JBY plans to continue its intensive exploration program throughout the summer with an immediate focus on detailed mapping and sampling of the identified REE and LCT pegmatite targets.
As data is gathered and analysed, the company aims to refine its exploration strategy, focusing on the most promising areas.
Additionally, further technological advancements and methodologies will be integrated to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of the exploration efforts, says the company.
JBY is also exploring potential partnerships and collaborations to bolster their exploration activities and to prepare for future development stages.
“In late 2023, despite having just a couple of months before snowfall, our fieldwork was directed towards the Aero property, thanks to its convenient access directly off the Trans-Taiga highway,” JBY exec director Andrew Dornan says.
“Now that the Canadian winter has passed, we’re shifting gears, with our sights set on the Joule property.
“The REE targets identified through radiometric surveys show significant promise, and the team is excitedly awaiting the chance to delve deeper into these zones and unlock their full potential.”
