Moto Goldmines founder, geologist, and deal-maker Klaus Eckhof has signed on as non-executive chair, while ex-Perseus Mining and Placer Dome geologist Dr Peter Turner will commence as the explorer’s A$325,000 per annum managing director later this month.
The new blood has an impressive pedigree that investors will be hoping gives Kairos a shot in the arm.
Eckhof is most commonly associated with African gold, particularly the Democratic Republic of Congo where he more recently founded lithium-tin developer AVZ Minerals, although he’s been involved with a string of Australian firms in recent times.
Turner’s resume includes roles in the discovery, delineation, or development of deposits across Africa and Asia.
Their appointment follows the appointment of Eckhof’s Corporate & Resource Consultants to conduct a six-month strategic review of Kairos’ 2026sq.km asset portfolio in the Pilbara, and its Eastern Goldfields holdings.
CRC has previously advised Perseus, AVZ, and De Grey Mining, with the latter helping put the Pilbara gold province on the map with the delimitation of the multi-million ounce Hemi intrusion-related gold discovery.
Turner described Kairos’ flagship Mt York gold project as “a large mineralised system in a tier-one location” not known for JORC resources.
He said the focus would be on adding significant ounces to the existing 873,500oz at 1.3 grams per tonne resource.
The same approach will be used at Lallah Rookh, which is surrounded by world-class lithium deposits, including Pilbara Minerals’ Pilgangoora and Mineral Resources’ Wodgina mines, where the geology is prospective for fertile lithium-caesium-tantalum pegmatites, where there are lithium-in-soil anomalies at waiting to be drilled.
Roe Hills, in the Eastern Goldfields, is 10km south of the Manna lithium deposit, owned by Global Lithium Resources and Breaker Resources, and adjacent to Breaker’s emerging Lake Roe gold discovery.
Neil Hutchison has resigned with the new appointments, after eight years as a director, to complete the board renewal.
