The company topped the charts last week on its ASX debut following a heavily oversubscribed $5m IPO, thanks to its strategically located lithium projects in Ontario and Quebec.
To lead Pioneer Lithium (ASX:PLN) on its growth journey in the rapidly evolving critical minerals sector, Pioneer recently appointed Clinton Booth as CEO, whose previous roles include senior positions at Fortescue Future Industries and Galaxy Resources (now Allkem (ASX:AKE).
From his point of view, Pioneer’s asset base is “second to none” with Root Lake holding “compelling potential” for future exploration.
PLN’s autumn fieldwork program, which is being undertaken in conjunction with geological consultants Coast Mountain Geological, is designed to identify the presence of pegmatite outcrops within two highly prospective corridors along-strike from the known lithium deposits held by Green Technology Metals (ASX:GT1).
The explorer also hopes to identify new priority targets with the program to be conducted in two phases.
The first phase will include detailed geological mapping of outcrops and systematic bedrock sampling guided by aeromagnetic and historical exploration data.
This will be followed by a second phase of targeted litho-geochemical channel sampling to test the dispersion of lithium-bearing pathfinder minerals associated with LCT pegmatites.
Pioneer’s field team will initially focus on the area designated as Extended Morrison in the north-western portion of the Root Lake Project area, to inform whether this could represent a continuation of GT1’s Morrison/McCombe pegmatite system – which holds an Inferred Resource of 4.5Mt at 1.01% Li2O – to the west.
Fieldwork will then move towards the Central Corridor in the south-eastern portion of the Project area, which lies along the same trend as GT1’s Root Bay pegmatite system and recently announced Root Bay West spodumene discovery.
“This is our first opportunity to explore the ground at Root Lake and we couldn’t be more pleased,” Booth said.
“We are looking forward with great anticipation to seeing the results from the multiple work fronts in the coming weeks.
“Fieldwork is an essential element of early exploration activities and is critical in informing our upcoming drilling program. Having fieldwork underway supports our goal of commencing drilling at Root Lake in late Autumn.”
Results from the autumn fieldwork will be used to enhance the geological understanding of the Root Lake project area and assist with the development of high-confidence drill targets ahead of the upcoming maiden winter drilling program.
